I'm looking at a 1995 s6 avant for under $6k, but it has 220K miles. Recently serviced with new clutch, timing belt, and front rotors and pads.
I'm long distance, so I can't just pop over, but I'd like to know if that sounds reasonable or not. I know these engines are reliable if treated properly, but I'd love to know opinions on the rest of the car. I guess the only current problem is a key fob with lost programming.

What color is it? =)
jk. i'd say 220 is a lot but if they have all the maintenance history at least you know what you're getting into.

Three years or more, I was looking at buying an S6 avant with close to 200k miles. One owner from the Portland area and I've never seen such a detailed and dealer-only service record, before. If this is the one, could be a contender.

a comprehensive maintainence scheduel, I have recently performed a compression/leakdown test with 4 cylinders being perfect and one being within a 5% tollerence of the others...my S4 currently has 271,000 miles.

It is a green/ecru avant. This is actually the color I prefer, short of black and maybe white. I love british racing green, and that's pretty close. Black leather gets hot in the sun.
Here's what he says
"221,600 miles
Timing belt: 220,600
Front pads and rotors: 213,596
Master cyl, clutch, battery: 202,595
Steering rack replaced: 191,642"
He is the original owner, and he did keep records...not sure of how much. This car is in CO, however.
