On Saturday evening I had the misfortune of running my A4 over a dog carcass. Poor fella was lying in the middle of the road and looked like a pile of leaves to me at first, but then I saw a little pair of eyes reflecting my headlamps just when it became too late to stop.

Since it was too late to worry about the dog, I had to wonder about the undercarriage of the car. There was quite a rumble underneath as I passed over the carcass. Does the '99 A4 feature any underbody protection? What damage should I check for ?
