I see at least one HID upgrade where a braided sleeve was put over some of the wiring, after which the ends were dressed up with heat-shrink.

For durability and abrasion resistance, I think this is a pretty good idea.

What size did/would you use? 1/8"? 1/4" Some of them expand a bit, I realize. I know I can get this stuff on the web in rolls of 100 feet, if I wanted. Smaller lengths are available, too.

I think I'll also use it when I relay my '90 80q's headlights.

The more expanded it is the thinner the coverage, so for this purpose I think bigger is better. 3/8" nominal is just about right.

cableorganizer.com will cut it to length and sell you the heat shrink too.
