I own a 93 UR S4 that was recently totalled (grrr!) but I installed a fully rebuilt 2.2L turbo about 20k ago. I am hoping to gain some information about the S2. Were they sold in the US? What years, and how many? I am interested in swapping my engine into something smaller and lighter than the S4 was. I love the look of the S2, but frankly I know little about their history. I imagine I will not be able to secure one for the price I'd be interested in, but I was thinking I could convert an Audi 80 closer to S2 spec body wise, swap in my 2.2L and boost it to around 300whp and have some fun.

Any help would be appreciated. thanks

S2 or Rs2 was never sold in the Sates, If i were you i would swap it into a Audi Coupe Quattro, I know thats what I would do if i ever totall the S6

True but the swap is far from plug and play.

I took that engine out and threw in my already built S4 engine as well as a bunch of other go fast goody's. Its one heck of a track car but I do miss the old S4 sometimes for its reliability and comfort. Thankfully my wife has a 95.5 S6 RS2'd Avant that I can drive when I need to. Here is a picture of the coupe with the bumper off and hood up.

The www.20v.org/s2 site has a good overview of swapping the 3B (1991 200TQ) engine into the B3 chassis Coupe Quattro. www.motorgeek.com has everything from 3B and AAN (urS4/S6) to V8 swaps.

Actually that cover has been replaced. A bit too tacky even for me.
