Default doing CV boots, couple questions

1-do i have to replace the bolt that holds the ball joint together?

2-how do i get the ball joint (idk if thats the right term) out? i have a huge bar on top of it, under the drivers door, and coming out the front of the car, just bang until it comes free?

no need to touch the ball joint for cv R&R - just pull the half shaft.
