Default My temp gauges work now! could use some help with after run stuff (Dave F? :P)

i went for a 15 minute drive and my temp gauge got to the thick line like it should with my new Tstat, great, i got home, been around the car for a bit, the fan doesnt come on nor does the after run pump (as far as i can tell)

what are the steps i need to take to figure out whats wrong? i shouldnt hurt anything if i dont run the car hard and heat the turbo up right? i want to fix this asap, thanks.

Default the engine has to be really hot before that stuff comes on, you could go

hard drive or those two brittle wires that were sparking, you can connect those and pump and fan should run

Default Alright, thanks for the help, i would of taken those wires off, but they were so brittle, i figured

Leaving them on and working around them was the best thing to do, assuming they still work, but thanks for the help ill test that out

I think you can bridge them with a wire and leave them connected

Default also, im a little low on coolant, maybe 4 inches below min.

And when i went down hill my temp gauge went all the way down and then came back about 15 seconds latter, im hoping this isnt a gauge problem, my 5000's gauge worked 10% of the time and it was a short in the cluster.

Default Sorry, I went for lunch. Looks like you got your answers below i.e. it rarely comes on. You can ...

test the pump by shorting the two wires together. You should hear the pump whir, etc.

Default you can, but then even if the car is cold, the afterrun system will run

for ~10 minutes everytime the car is shut off. The sensor on my car was bad. I replaced it, but the stock temp is around 110C, which is around 230F, pretty hot. Mine will only come on on a summer day after sitting for about 5 minutes. It is pretty quiet, but you can hear the fan and you can feel the pump vibrate if you open the hood and put your hand on it.
To overcome the problem, i installed a toggle switch in parallel with thermoswitch. When on, the pump comes on every time the motor is turned off. When off, the system uses the thermoswitch, just as it would stock. This system works great for allowing the system to come on after normal driving, but stops it from turning on after i move the car in the driveway. HTH.
