Proving these cars aren't that rare, I followed a 92-94 black S4 in my loaned 94 S4 from the Connecticut border to East Greenwich, got off the highway and passed a black S6. You want rare? I've run across another V8 Quattro once on the road. Once. And it wasn't a 4.2. :-)

considering how many are in the north east they arent that rare to see v8s are more common i think
i see 2 on the way to work one everytime in im hudson nh 1 on my way to peabody every wednesday.

Gotcha there....with 170 93's crusing US roads, and less than that surviving, chances are pretty bad running across one.
90's, I'll give you, are somewhat more common, but I'm pretty sure that more S4/S6's were produced than V8 Quattros (or at least, imported to the states.)
