Opinions on Elf synthetic oil?

Supposedly fantastic oil if you can get it cheaply.
Mostly used for motorcycles, and big in Europe.
It's been recommended highly to me by more than one person in or around Motorsports. It's difficult to find in the States, though. Maybe more prevalent in Canada. Chemical composition is more stalwart than Mobil 1, so I've heard. Never tried it myself.
