The car hasnt'e been reliable like I expected it to be. I can understand regular maintenance, but in the 3 months I've had the car the repair bills are nearing 1k. All that and there's still a few things I'd like to take care of.
I really do love the car though, nothing beats it for what I bought it for. A smooth, fast, comfortable cruiser that can take me effortlessly on the semi frequent 7 hour drives I do. Maybe I'll get a Buick. :(

Aux water pump
2 Patched tires (if you count that)
Fuel Lines
Brakes (more of a maintenance thing though)
Still needed;
CV Boot
Valve cover gasket (though this isn't needed that bad)
Would still like to do;
Tranny fluid
Rear diff fluid
Some bushings
This doesn't paint a pretty picture as to what I have to look foward to in the future, thoguh that's not what most members here seem to experience.

Did that come with a reach around?

Aux H2O pump? They all go. I was expecting it.
CV Boots? Will happen in the Subie also.
Fuel lines? That's wierd - more of an early 80's FI - salt zone - type of thing. Still - outside of the recall - nothing earth shattering. Deal with it.
VC gasket? easy & cheap - I have not done it - but it is in my spares bin. Plus - watching this forum - I have been figureing out what needs to be replaced when, what to watch for, and what needs to be in spares. And how to do it.
I have been buying used (special) cars for years. No matter how good the condition - they all need a certain amount of 'beating' to get them into reliable shape. Once there - they have all been more reliable than most new cars. (My wife has been my most ardent supporter - god love her - she likes new for herself - she prefers when we take my car. Esp. the 'S'.)
The S was in far better condition than any other car I have bought - and took far more beating to get 'er right.
This one's just a sh*t load more fun.
And as a result - I am far more willing to replace something at the slightest provocation.
Then again - you may prefer car payments.

no one should own this car if they can't do basic repairs/maintence themselves. When I bought my car I put about 4k in parts in it, fixed a lot of broken items, not yet broken itmes, and lowered it. I can't even imagine what it would of cost to have all that work done at a shop.

So far I've added a total of $395. I did the aux water pump myself and attemted to do the brakes but couldn't get the caliper bolts off (no air gun here).
Brake lines are getting done in the next two days, so that might end up costing ~$50 (a friend said he could help me now) or around $200 if I bring it to a shop on Friday.
So I guess it's closer to $600 but I still need to do the CV boot and valve cover gasket. The gasket doesn't look like it'd be to hard of a job.

...and this is what is taking a toll on me as well. Paying off the personal loan I took to get the car as well as the repair costs isn't very exciting.
I guess it is all normal wear and tear, just not something I really have the budget for right now. I bought the car when I was a full time mortgage broker. Now that I am back at school, I can only do that part time, so I'm not getting the same incmome I was used to. Does anyone want to refinance...buy a new house? :p
