Folks,
Could some kind soul with the new A4/S4 ('99-'00) which come with a full size RH size mirror do me a huge favour?
On the bottom of the mirror there is a black plastic piece, secured to the mirror by just one screw. If you undo that screw, you can pop this piece off with a slim screwdriver. It is held by two tiny clips.
I need the part number of this piece. It should be on a paper sticker glued to the inside of this part.
ETKA does not provide the p/n for it. Audi wants to sell the whole motor assy.

I am contemplating installing the outer plastic cap and the mirror glass on both my wife's '98 A4 and my own '97 S6. Both cars are equipped with the pathetic small and dangerous RH mirrors. I took both of them out of their respective cars and disassembled them on the bench side by side.

It appears that in order to get a full size RH mirror one has to replace three parts: the outer plastic mirror cap, the mirror glass and that little plastic part for which ETKA does not give a separate p/n but which I am sure exists.
Best part, the outere cap and mirror glass could be also installed on the S6 as they are identical. I even swapped them between the A4 and the S6 and assembled the mirrors. It helps that my both Audis are of the same LB09 colour (Pearl White).

Thanks in advance for the p/n.

You might want to call a Euro dealership and get the aspheric mirror glass it is 100 times better than std. glass. It is illigal here in the US (Don't know why) but well worth it.

The drivers mirror had a cool bend in it (aspheric?) and allowed you to see so much more. Plus, the L/R knob on the armrest pulls both mirrors parrallel to the car when turn to the left (the knob, not the car!). Nice for tight park jobs and high-speed cruising!
