The steering colomn on the '93 S4 w/ 201K on it started smoking breifly today at a red light. I hadn't been beating on the car too much at the time and saw no reason for such things to be happening - a small and breif wisp of smoke came out of the post where the windshield washers are, i blew on it, a little more smoke came out then it stopped - it smelled like something was burning or melting - wat could this be? has this happened to anyone esle b4? should i be worried?

The wires for the Ignition and Lights carry enough amps to start a fire if shorted.
