View Full Version : Would cat-back exhaust provide noticable seat-of-the-pants performance gains to a chipped A4 1.8TQ?

While it'd be nice to have a sportier sounding car, I'm kinda reluctant to drop $700 to get a cat-back exhaust that just provides some nicer soundfx... would something like the APR/Borla cat-back exhaust provide a noticable performance gain also? Would it be better to hold off until after winter to get one installed (save it from the salt and such) or should that not really affect the exhaust much? Thanks for any help!

I recently put on the APR/Borla.
1. The tone is great, not to loud, very classy.
2. Stainless steel. Don't wory about salt or corrosion.
3. Seat of the pants? Yes. Not like the chip, but its there. I noticed more top end punch. The motor reves much more freely.
4. Get it! you'll be very happy with your purchase.

One more thing. I can really hear the turbo spool above 4500rpm. I did'nt really hear it until I put on the exaust.

This is the last thing...really..APR/Borla is a true cat-back system. Call APR They love to talk. Yes I'm biased. I receive no compensation from APR, Just great service.
