My friend's 94/s4 has a strange problem that we are beginning to troubleshoot. The car will idle for 10-15min's with no problems. If he takes it down the street, it dies( shuts off) in about 1-2 miles. He can then restart it but the same event will happen again on the way back. We have noticed that the light for the alarm system that blinks when you lock yours doors is staying half illuminated.(I think its in the rear fog switch??) Have any of you troubleshot the alarm systems ability to disable the vehicle. I'm thinking that the alarm is shutting dowm the fuel pump so all he has is in the rail. I think our first step is to swap the v94 board on the central locking pump or at least disable it.

Thx,
Steve

My relay was bad and the car wouldn't start. New relay no problems.

Once it starts it will keep running, if the cam sensor fails then the ECU will retard the timing to compensate and you will get the codes in the ECU.

Failing fuel pump... that's more likely.
