photo of that manifold on 428 hp MTM-tuned S2 coupe called the RSR. Roland Mayer et al built the car to show what MTM could do (and in this case, beat Porsche's reworking of the S2 avant into the "RS2"). Mayer was probably pissed off because in 1992 he (MTM) built a car called the "RS2" based on the S2 coupe using a lot of quattro Sport technology to achieve more than 400 hp. But I guess he didn't get the contract from Audi to make the "other" RS2, the avant. Hence the "RSR" moniker.

According to the article, the RSR had a FMIC from the Sport quattro, a more efficient exhaust manifold from an early S1 rally car and a "specially-sized" and matched KKK turbo with a smaller turbine from the K26 adn a larger compressor housing from the K27. Supposedly low turbo lag and 428 hp (presumably at the flywheel).

So the MTM manifold MIGHT work on an UrS car (but it would not be just a bolt on).

It's a "mass" produced piece.

but I can see how that might be a problem. The idle valve port and the throttle body get placed quite far fowards, this is to get in front of the side mount small chassis radiator.

engine mounted in the S2, i.e. a coupe quattro with a 217 hp 20vt engine. Of course, that also means that it does work with later conversions (popular now) However, conversions were not the initial focus in the early 1990's. It was to create a niche market for S2 owners who wanted more power. Remember this was BEFORE the RS2.

So we are both right.
