The clutch makes a squeeky noise as it is disengaged only during the first 5 minures of operation. Once car warms up the noise seems to disapear. Cold days it is louder. Today the noise seemed more pronounced. Clutch is not slipping and feels fine. Car has 90k and I am sure is original clutch. Any ideas of this issue?
How hard for a shadetree to do a complete clutch replacement?
TIA

does it do it when you push the clutch down? Does it still do it if the car is off? If it still does it when the car is off, i wouldn't worry about it. I've never heard a clutch squeak though, just the pedal. No, a clutch job on a quattro car is not a shadetree job.

The noise only occurs when releasing the pedal. It is not the pedal itself. It sounds like it is coming from the belly of the beast.

my guess would be maybe a throwout bearing. I've heard them make noise before, just not much of a squeaking.

It only makes the noise when disengaging the clutch. The pitch of the noise does change as RPMs go up and as I release the clutch.
