an A4 2.8 Q and there are no 2000 available right now, but a 99.5 is with about $2,500 off list. Only real missing option is the Xenon, which I really wanted. So, are people happy with their standard headlights or should I wait for the '00 with Xenon? Thanks.

And what's nice with the 99.5s is that you can upgrade to Xenon for a price and the install looks like it will be pretty clean after what I have seen on the S4 (which has Xenons).

But remember, you get the Symphony radio, homelink (can be added to the 99.5 too), the white numbers and sideguard (optional) as well.

with the headlights. They look just as good in the day, and I don't feel like I am missing out at all. I guess you loose some brightness at night but not enough to make a difference. With what you can save by going 1999.5 you could by xenons aftermarket (or from the dealer). Personally, there are other mods I would rather drop $1500 on. What I would really be concerned with is resale value. MY2000 will be worth more. But I know the itch to get it now.

Have you ever driven with the standard lights? They emit a blue glow around the edges. It's kind of neat. I agree with 7an, they should be adjusted upward a little.

Would I like to have the xenon lights? Yes
Am I sad that I don't have xenon lights? No

Actually I'm of the opinion that Xenon headlights are actually a safety hazard. One night I was driving on a two lane road in central California, when a Xenon equipped car approched me. His lights were so bright that I could not see the lines on the road, and nearly had a head on wiht him. Had the road been curved, I would have been in serious trouble. Halogens are plenty bright. If you want more light, hit your high beams and turn the fog lights on.

I just picked up a 99.5 A4 2.8QMS two days ago. The light seem pretty bright to me especially since they are the elippsoidal (is that spelt right??) kind. And think of the money you saved I originally went for a 1.8tqms, offered me a great deal on the 99.5 2.8qms $29K plus tax, blah, blah...
