I have a 1996 A4 with 140K kilometers. I love my A4 but I have had a number of problems. Has anyone else experienced the same or am I just unlucky. The problems were:
1) Front end bushings squeeked,upper and lower control arms had to replaced.
2) Multifuncton switch in the transmission had to replaced.
3) Trunk lock does not lock or open with key.
4) Climate control display is internmitant espcially in summer. Can't seem to fix it. Any ideas?
5) Air condition evaporator sprung a leak and will have to be replaced before summer.

The only savings is that I have a good dealer and is helpful but maintenance costs have been high.
Any comments will be appreciated.

don't feel too bad, i've had a couple of those. The squeaky bushings, which turned out to be worned out tie rod ends. And the leaking air conditioner, which happened to be a leaking coil.

i have gotten them fixed, and only have to deal with the shuddering that happens when my car idles. i am sure there will be better days to look forward to.
