It depends on the exhaust you get, I have a neuspeed exhaust and it sounds nice, not too loud. My friend has a Remus exhaust and you can barely hear it. I heard tri-flow's exhaust is really loud but costs about $1000. You aren't going to be able to feel a difference in performance with just an exhaust.

Total exhaust would be a little more. However, you do pick up a nice , more noticable increase
in torque, which is more important to a road car than HP anyway.

I've posted this before. First ignore all the postings on the 1.8T exhaust sytems. This engine has a turbo and none of the statements in improvement apply to a normal aspriated engine.

You can gain more hp with a full cat back system or by removing and/or replacing the resonator - probably see 6hp gain like has been posted, but at the expense of low end torque and thus your driveability.

I put a Remus on for the sound and looks. Did not see or feel any performace gain, but I enjoy the sound. As Steve Sherewood has said "Can't hear it with the windows up, but it sounds so good you drive with the windows down."
