View Full Version : Guys down at Bimmer.org sure like to put down Audi's. It's like we're their enemy or somethin! EriqC 10-21-1999, 12:28 PM 7an 10-21-1999, 12:39 PM I see more pointless messages like " SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" at bimmer.org than any other forum. Not a sign of great intelligence or maturity, as far as I'm concerned. I'm not bashing BMW (I used to own one). a4.org has its share of pointless posts (and I'm sure I've contributed to them myself) but usually there's some more intelligent reasoning found in the body of the message. End of sweeping-generalization-of-the-day. :) 7an 10-21-1999, 12:40 PM Raoul 10-21-1999, 12:56 PM Paul H. It works quite well at keeping the crap off the board and it is also very fast. (Just like our 300ZX's!) :-) Seriously its a neat feature... and a GREAT board... just like this one! Admittedly, there's not nearly as much quality content as there is here.. But I chalk that up to the fact that more enthusiasts tend to buy Audi's and there are more Audi's out there.. At least it seems that way on the road.. BTW... Audi vs BMW... I have them both (99.5 A4 2.8QMS, 2000 540i/6).. And I think they're both great cars.. They do different things well. That's why I have both of them. parkerpt 10-21-1999, 02:28 PM Avery Ironside 10-21-1999, 04:37 PM nt Ken- 10-21-1999, 04:57 PM I was just on bimmer.org E46-section, and this guy was going on & on how the 328i is incompetent, BMW NA knows nothing about quality control, and how the Audi A4,A6 was so much better.. At least the guys over there admit that Mercedes, Lexus (toyota) have better quality control. And their technical (maintenance) support for older models is first rate.. A4.org tends to cater to "new" owners. Sure, most new cars around $40k are nice.. I want to know what Audi owners have to say after 7 years, and 100,000 miles later.. Steve S. 10-21-1999, 05:46 PM Steve S. 10-21-1999, 05:52 PM First off there is useful stuff there. Second, the boards are similar, generally speaking, in terms of ages of the posters. The M3 board, "seems" IMHO, to have a few younger visitors that seem to have a chip on their shoulder....but maybe this is just my perception. The Z3 board is usually pretty civil, as are the 5-series boards. The Z3 board is actually pretty active. Every board has its contributors and its misfits. That includes the 986board.com, bimmer.org, a4.org, and vwvortex.com. What I like about A4.org is all the other stuff that is found on the website. It is not just a forum, but it is much much more. Just my 2 cents worth. Steve S. 97 2.8QM Ken- 10-21-1999, 06:17 PM I'm not really biased one way or the other 'cause we own both brands, but speaking of how bimmer owners bash others.. I'm scrolling down this list, & I see one Audi guy saying how Bimmer owners behave as they would in a sandbox,, another referring to them as underaged drivers (14-17 yr olds) & yet another even subliminally referring to them as animals (fearing what they don't understand) w/no useful content... HHmmmmm.. just my observation.. Mature driver- 10-21-1999, 06:28 PM In fact, they just had an extensive poll trying to figure out the average age of E34 owners.. It varied from 17 all the way to 65-... The median seemed to linger around 40!!! 7an 10-21-1999, 06:35 PM bsc 10-21-1999, 09:31 PM 328i 10-22-1999, 05:30 AM Alan 10-22-1999, 07:00 AM Yes, some immature people on bimmer.org like to bash Audis and other makes. And, immature people from other makes like to come to bimmer.org and spout off about how this car or that car is better than BMWs. The best thing to do with either type of person is to simply ignore them. Ignore flamebait, and the person responsible will get bored and find someone else to bother. My take on the differences between our cars is this: the important thing is that Audis, BMWs, etc. are all good cars, and competition between them is what drives the manufacturers to produce cars that are faster, handle better, have more horsepower, etc. If one car make were truly superior to all the rest, that manufacturer would have no incentive to ever make their cars any better. Instead, competition between the different makes means that we, the car enthusiasts, win in the end no matter what we drive. --Alan Solo 10-22-1999, 07:01 AM EriqC 10-22-1999, 07:15 AM Jensen 10-22-1999, 07:24 AM Dime 10-22-1999, 07:32 AM |
