As you know, Ronal is sponsoring the Las Vegas Audi driving & instructors school next April 7-9th.
I thought I'd quickly summarize what one of these events entails--due to your inquiries!!
First, the driving school is a two day event, sponsored and held in conjunction with the National Audi Quattro Club--JOIN THE CLUB---and is open to people of all driving levels with any kind of car--not just Audi's!
You are placed in groups, beginning, intermediate, and advanced. It is a DRIVING SCHOOL, with instructors there to show you(one on one) how you can drive your OWN vehicle better and learn the nuiances of your own vehicle--not someone else's---in a SAFE and CONTROLLED environment. These events are usually held at real race tracks, and you spend alot of time on the track, usually with an instructor at your side who will assist you in expanding your driving skills and the cars' envelope!!
Time is spent in the classroom, as well as on a "skid pad". Basic driving techniques are discussed, some items covered are oversteer, understeer, threshold braking, accident avoidance maneuvers, slalom driving, wet skid pad experiences, and of course the actual experiences of driving on the track.
By driving on the track, you will learn better cornering techniques, how to enter and exit a turn, downshifting techniques, and many other nuiances of driving. Your time on the track is app. 2-3 hours a day driving, with classroom and skid pad time in between. It is fun, exhilirating, and provides more self confidence in your everyday driving.
Naturally each car is checked out and inspected before, and you will be wearing a helmet--you can rent these at the events. You can also "hop" rides with other more experienced drivers, most will not object--and that can be fun as well.
As this is not a RACING SCHOOL--but a clinic to develop better driving skills in a safe environment, you can feel secure even if you are a novice. We have people in their teens to their 80's participating in these events and women are really encouraged to participate as well.
Cost for these two day events are usually around $250 for the event. There's alot of camaraderie in such an event, plus the evening socials, and you see many interesting cars. I highly recommend these events.
These events are listed in the Audi Quattro Magazine, you should join the Audi Quattro Club, $45/yr and you will receive this informative magazine and be privy to alot of information about Audi, etc.
If any of you want to add your experiences for others to read, please comment. YOUR shared experiences would help others to have a better idea. Hopefully we'll see you at one of these events.
