How did you go about making stereo changes?
I was told that if I replaced the head unit I would lose the security system, and that the bose speakers/amps/cd changer would no longer function properly.
Do you know of a way around this? Or did you just redo the entire stereo set up. Any info would be great, thanks.

security system stays intact, however i ripped out all teh bose components, plus all teh factory wiring for the stereo, and put in better wires and 2 amps in the trunk, one 800x1 mono kenwood for 2 JL 12W3-d4's, and one to control the 5 1/4" components (which will fit in factory location, with the stock cover still on the door), and the 3 way kenwood 6x9's in the rear. i have a couple pics... i hit with a decibel meter 149 dB's with that setup.... now i'm trying to figure out a way to use MDF particle board which weighs 1/3 the amount of regular sub box particle board, so my cars rear end won't sag as much as it did with prior setup. see i will have fast S6 with sweet wheels, and a lowered suspension coming before spring break down in florida, and a loud, deep, hard hitting, yet very very very clear stereo to boot. i'm not really into bumping down the street to wake up neighbors... i just like to nkow its there when i needed it. i usually lower the settings when listening normally, but still with a decent amount of bass? any questions? by the way don't steal this design, actually on the second hand, ya don't have a clue as to what the box looks like in the trunk.. if you want i'll post a couple more pics.

yes, all the components concerning the stereo system was pulled out. The security system will stay in tact if you DON'T try to power the existing bose system with an aftermarket head, you need to replace it all. We ran signal to a x-over and used a 4-channel PPI amp for mids and highs and a bridged 2-channel PPI for a sub custom built in the ski-bag area. I replaced the door speakers with ADS 5 1/4 with x-overs to tweets in the stock locations, and ADS 6 1/2 with tweets in the rear deck. The sub was a 10" Orion, boxed in the ski-bag pointing right into the car thru the armrest. I never felt I needed to add anything, the sound was full and tight, very clean...
