I had the S4 out today, well kind of he drove it. I think he thought iwas just a tire kicker as he asked if i knew how much he car was worth, and when i gave him the figures he was like ok lets go then. Long story.
So heres what i know after today. First things first after first getting in i wasn't that much more inpressed than my 88 90 quattro. And couldn't believe it didn't have a trip computer. But anyway.
It seems to shift smooth from watching him. Iwill know for my self next week, after i make an offer he said i could drive it. I turned off the climate control and stereo and didn't here much noise from the transmision, though at times there was a hint.
Everything works except fot the brake warning light is on on the display, he says it's cause the wear sensor isn't hooked up as the pads had diff set up.
I was wrong with the kms, there is 104k kms.
Under the hood wasn't too clean but not dirty. However the top pan looks to be seeping. How much will that cost to get parts? i will do my self but want to give a dealer or garage quote.
The recalls weren't done.
The hoses going to the steering pump at the pump are also seeping.
There is a gas hose, with a banjo fitting on the end that inn't hooked up. This hose is up by the filter next to the turbo. And hasn't been for a while judging by the slight corrosion. IS this the standard line that would be on the 100 but is a dud on the S4?. As it seems to idle perfect and accelarate smoothly. But i need to drive to make sure.
The oil has been changed every 3-5k kms.
The alignment is also off a slight but not as much as my 90 is now.
So with all things considered what do you guys think i should offer this guy. In canadian dollars. ON auto trader they are going from 13 to 20g. I like this car and want it but don't want ot spend too much. I was think around 15 000. But i don't want to offend him either. And of course i will need to drive my self as he was shifting at like 4 grand. Not good enough for me. I think thats why i am not too excited yet, i didn't fee lthe S4 rush.
