I'm looking for information on the factory wiring for the CD changer on 95 S6.
I've been told that they were all pre-wired for the CD changer but I haven't
been able to find any wiring harness in the trunk. Can anyone with a 95 S6
tell me where the wiring should be located? Passenger whellwell? Driver's
wheelwell? The mounting bolt for the bracket are on the passenger side but
I can't find any wiring.
Thanks for the help.

PD: I can't swear that this is true for a 95 but for my 93, which didn't come with a CD, the wiring is there on the right rear upper wheel well. You have to mostly remove the right rear trunk/fender liner carpet stuff (it was heat shaped so it isn't real happy being pulled out - or replaced - but you can do it.). Once you have the liner (mostly) pulled away get a flash light and have a look. The wiring should be all nicely wrapped in a grey foam and tie-wrapped to a metal brace.
What you are going to do with it once you have found it - that is the bigger question.

Thanks for the advice Dave. I actually already took the passenger side panel out of the drunk
the other night but I didn't look in front of the wheel well behind the back seat. I will try again and look harder with a better light. This time I will have to just crawl all the way into the trunk to see for myself.
Once I find the wiring harness, I hope to plug it into my CD changer. It's an Audi 6 disc CD changer with the 8 PIN connector that I was told would fit the S6. If it doesn't, I can return it. I didn't plan on buying it until I found the harness, but that didn't happen so now I want to see if it will work.
Thanks again. I'll let you know what I find later in the week.

Hmmm. Not so fast Kemosabe! You forgot about the magic adapter/transceiver that relays the signals from the buttons on the OEM radio to the Audi CD changer. Don't take my word for it. GO to:
http://www.urs4.com/ (Jimmy Pribble's excellant web site)
and then Technical - Interior - Stereo and you will see the bits for the 10 disc Sony-based system. I believe the 6 disc system was an Alpine. However, in either case, it has to be the "Audi" version (so you couldn't just go to Circuit City and get the changer for about $300 less).
Good luck on the hunt.

pre wiring for the 95 s6 seems to be rather confusing.
I just purchased a 95.5 s6 avant that has the wiring taped up near the mounting bracket... But my father has a 95 s6 avant that does not seem to be prewired... or it's just very, very well hidden unlike mine... strange?
My understanding is that the s6's do not require the "magical adapter" but rather work directly with the audi changer.
good luck
