From my research you seem to have a lot of experience replacing that heater core. All I need is to get to the Analog Climate Control Knobs to see what's broken, since my knob that controls my vents, doesn't control the vents any more.

How long do you think It would take just to get to that section to see what's wrong?

Would the 2 parts about removing the rear and front middle consoles cover it?

Thanks.

But I would think you'd remove the wood trim and see if they come out as an assembly like they used to on the A3 VW's.

You might pop the stereo out too, so you've got some room to peek in with a flashlight, and get your hand(s) inside.

So, that's why I asked if you could give a time reference of getting to it.

Can I just remove the stereo and see if anything's broken or is more work needed?

If that doesn't give you enough room to work, then remove the center console, and then the whole middle console. Might take you an hour.

Remove heater-A/C knobs
Remove trim plate
Remove front center console (must remove rear center console first)
Remove 4 screws...assembly drops out bottom

In the diagram, it looks like the top of the assembly is exposed. Before doing the full disassembly, you might be able to see what's going on from the open radio slot.

The part of the Climate control that holds the wire housing broke, and the knob is not moving the wire inside the wire housing cuz everything is moving. So, i need a new/used part. Took about 1.5 hours, almost 2.

This putty comes as a stick. You slice off what you need, kneed it between your fingers for a minute or 2 to get it all mixed and one color, and then pack it in, around, or whatever, the part you're repairing. In 10min it's hard as a rock.

You may find clips for holding cables or holding accelerator cables, etc. at your local hardware store.

Otherwise, you're just going to have to replace the climate control assembly....and find out why that cable became so stiff that actuating it broke the assembly.

He told me, from the way the harness was and the way the assembly is, that I can drill a hold in the assembly where the connector was, and just use a bolt and nut to screw it in. It looks highly possible and i'll give it a try tomorrow. I'll put something around the bolt to hold it better, like a 2 stage epoxy.

I know the stuff you're talking about, looks like a stick of metal, but it's putty. That's a good idea too. I'll have to Frankenstein it.
