If they save a few pounds on the unsprung weight, they can make inboard components lighter, reducing overall weight and getting a tick up on MPG.

I remember reading an article about them 3-4 years ago.

Look good though, low side flex, can't get a flat, and possibly lighter than a standard tire.

I'm sure there are plenty of dorks out there who would get in line for the goofy see through look. The Smart or Prius would be a perfect application ;)
