I have a 1994 Audi 100s with a 4spd automatic. I drove the car this morning and it was fine, my daughter went to take it to work and it won't shift. The shifter moves but the car remains in Park. I took apart the console and undid everything and sprayed some wd-40 down the cable. It moved more easily so I put it back together and it still won't shift. Is there supposed to be some kind of clip that hold the end of the cable to the shifter and/or does anyone have a diagram of what this thing is supposed to look like. Thanks in advance.

It attaches to the transmission 'multi function switch' mounted on the drivers side of the transmsission. It's possible that it came unbolted, the cable broke, or it needs adjustment.

Thanks, will check that out. Also have a used one coming from the junkyard. Wish me luck, think I'm gonna need it.

Can anyone give me a site for a diagram for this shift cable. It's obviously come undone from wherever its supposed to be attached. Everything is friggin tight underneath, I can't see squat. Thanks.
