....next morning - nothing. The first thing I checked around for was rodent damage. Darn mousies around here love to nest under the intake. Last year, they chewed through several wires over night. Not this time. All wires, and vacuum hoses appear unmolested. I pulled the covers and checked the timing belt. It's in place and working properly. I put a timing light on several spark plug wires and no flashing = no spark!! My DVD drive ate my Bentley CD so I'm in the dark. Distributor? Pulse generator? Anybody???

Time to break out VAG-Com, read the codes and go from there.

You could *maybe* find it on eBay, but this way is no muss, no fuss, no bother.

Click

BTW, these are the guys who make it and license it. Trust me, it's money well spent. Without it, you're feeling around in the dark.

...to 156k before having to buy a code reader. In summary, we've had ZERO problems with this car! We bought it in 99 with 58k on it. It's a very easy car to love!!

It sounds like everyone is unanimous on the Ross Tech VAG-COM; I assume the "$200" version ricoblanco suggests is this one (I'll check with them before ordering, but it's for a '95A6):

actually $249 - Ross Tech VAG COM
