I went out to get in the car with my wife tonight and the sunroof was open about 5" and it would not close, I tried to cycle the switch several times. Turned off the car and restarted the engine. Right now I have a ignition Switch that needs to be replaced but its not acting up that much now. I just can't get the sunroof closed and need it fixed, any ideas on the cause? Is there a manual way to crank it closed? Thanks.

You'll see where it needs to be inserted. It goes in the middle of the motor
Good Luck

To manually close it:

CAREFULLY remove the sunroof control cover--from the front end (toward front of the car)--the covers have plastic tabs on the back end that are fragile, and the metal tabs on the front aren't exactly superhero's themselves. I'd use a small screwdriver to find one of the metal tabs and press it in a bit as you CAREFULLY pull the front end down. You might want to search the archives for various other tips/perspectives.

Once you get that sucker off, there is a little crank tool and you will see the spot to put it--crank away.

Careful with cover--if the tabs break it will never go back on the same way--been there, done that, look at it every day!

Good luck,
Chris

I had the same issue - cranked it shut but I have NO IDEA why it opened its self.

If your sunroof seems possessed by demons it's probably a dirty switch. See the link below.

I've you've been hearing the crunching of plastic parts lately when opening and closing it then it's likely much more serious.

clicky-click

My sunroof has been going crazy as well.......

What's this about the sound of plastic parts? That happens when I open my roof all of the way.
