Well, after two years of my hack job -- welding up some VW hood prop for a frozen pin that broke off in the carrier and had to be drilled out -- the cold weather here in Seattle finally broke my weld a couple weeks ago and I got some awful noises while braking. The e-brake was staying on for a while when the lever released, too. Not dangerous, just annoying and could be better.

Two years ago, on a night much like tonight:

So I bought two new rear carriers (come with float pins). It's dumb that you can't buy just the pins somewhere.

Anyway, installed them today along with new pads. The lube job I did a couple years ago when I polished the pins seemed to hold pretty well... just that bad weld.

Anyone need the old, healthy carriers?
