drives okay (no accidents) but I am used to my 93 RS2'd (about 350 hp) S4 turbo so I really can't tell. The A6 seems to have a few small issues (mostly bulbs) but the sunroof doesn't work (he has a new motor for it).

I know zero about the 2.8 L V6 except I am sure there are timing belt tensioner issues and some kind of seal leak at the front of the engine that is common. This engine is clean (I'd rather have seen it dirty).

Thanks in advance.

Money pit wise, I think you'll find everything easy to work on if you wrench yourself.

There's a ton of experience on this forum and everybody's been there, done that. It's always the same "issues" so ask questions and search the forum and the FAQ's. It's all here.

Boy, I'll sure second that, after working on my V.W. Syncro (more or less a Audi 4000 Quattro) for the last ten years working on the A6 is an absolute joy. While i miss my Syncro's 5 speed and more versatile roof rack the A6 has it beat in all other areas hands down. ~ John Buchtenkirch
