I have a 97 1.8T, and starting to have some curious coincidences in the lighting. I'm out of warranty so I'm hesitant to have the electrical overhauled.

In the past 5 months, I've had

1) right headlight went out (I replaced with factory bulb)

2) right blinker went out (I replaced both blinkers with 1157 Long Lifes)

3) flasher started acting weird (first I replaced both the 1157 long lifes with the exact factory bulb replacement, then I replaced the flasher)

4) yesterday, left headlight went out.

So although no two of the same bulb has gone out, that's a lot of lights to burn out. Coincidence or a problem?

I have done no aftermarket electrical modifications of any sort or even touched the battery, in fact I've never even chipped the car yet.

Hmm, I did have the alternator replaced a year and a half ago, could it be acting up and surging too much juice to the lights?

My '96 A4 constantly has 12.5-13.5 Volt.....
Is it supposed to be bad? Is there anything to do to lower the voltage?
