Called to bring my 98 A4 2.8 Q for the recalls Monday. My dealer (I wont name it yet until Im sure they won't help me)said they can't take the car untill February 2000. This is unacceptable, Im didnt spend 35K to be afraid to drive my car around. Any suggestions?? I'm not crazy aboout driving 1200 miles over thankgiving with a car w/ brake and steering recalls!!!

Where do you live? I called up tuesday and have an appointment to get it done next monday. They did tell that the job involves multiple technicians so they are trying to only schedule one per day (I guess so it doesn't interfere with the rest of their work). I guess there aren't a huge number of A4's where I live (middle of Illinois). The bad part though is that they wouldn't even consider giving me a loaner, even the they expect to have my car all day (I'm combining the service trip with my 25k maintenance and some minor electrical problems).

Got my tie rods done yesterday at Don Rosen here in Philly with about 3 days notice to dealer. Called up and tagged the tie rods onto my 22.5K service. Plus got a brand new (190 miles) A6 loaner !!! They just got 22 brand new '99 A6s in as loaners. They always treat me right.

Parts weren't in on brake booster or they would've done that too.

I had schedule with my dealer about a week ago to do the 10k service, I got the recall notices during that week. I brought my car in that assigned morning, told them about the recall notices. They took care of it right then and there, got the car back the same day.
