I reallly didn't have that much of a problem with my Audi until about a month or so ago. I have a 1994 100, by the way, I got it in December.

The first thing I noticed (aside from the radio not working) is that the sunroof would vent for no reason, without me even touching the switch. Then when I put my foot on the brake and the car drops down to about 4 or 5 miles an hour (when I'm coming to a stop) I hear some kind of motorized noise coming from under the brake pedal and I feel a kind of "thump" under my foot. I haven't had a problem stopping but it was a little annoying.

Ok, here's my question:

Then over spring break I had the car sitting for about a week, and since then I've had MAJOR problems starting it. It seems to only happen when it's warm-ish outside (above 50 degrees-I'm in New York). A couple of people have suggested that it might be the fuel pump relay. Can anyone tell me where I can find the fuel pump relay (the more specific, the better)? My car is currently sitting in the parking lot of a grocery store since it refused to start last night. Most of the time it starts on the second or third try, but it's happened twice now that it won't start at all.

"motorised" noice is the ABS. Do you brake hard? Do you see any "ABS" service light (of cause if it is operational).

With the sunroof. This is famous problem and you should be able find answer by looking though archives.

I've got that problem also (regarding the "motorized" noise, AKA the ABS kicking on just before a stop) It is very annoying to the point where I turn the ABS off on the dash to avoid hearing it. It started after I replaced all four rotors and pads.

My question is to confirm if there are two ABS sensors one near each front wheel? Would spraying electrical contact cleaner in the sensor help?

How do you switch the ABS off on the dash? That might be a way to get rid of it until I can get it worked on (or work on it myself).

I believe that the "ABS" switch was for a sport(ish) type mode in the C4 100? To my knowledge it was never offered on any of the A6's only the pre 95 cars... And I'm not even sure it was standard on all 100's either... BUT anyway... if you had the switch it would be on the center dash in the row of switches with the hazards and the fogs (I believe). Hope this helps.

I got the car towed on Friday to a shop and they diagnosed it today. I'm going to need a new fuel pump, and the car should be ready tomorrow afternoon. Total cost: approx $395; $150 for part, the rest for labor at $65/hour, including diagnosis.

I heard from an anonymous source that I can unplug the ABS sensor (I will get an "annoying" light on the dash, but I think I can deal with that as it will probably be less annoying than the ABS kicking on every time I come to a stop).

Can someone tell me where I can find the plug to disconnect the ABS (the more specific, the better).

Thanks!
