I am looking for some opinions (and i know they are out there) about increasing the performance of my 99.5 A4/2.8

Anyone with thoughts regarding actual improvements please let me know.

The rear tire in the trunkwell is an integral part of the crash structure in the A4 (as it is in most cars). Removing it might compromise your safety in the event you get rear-ended. In addition, your weight savings is only going to be about 40 pounds - surely if it provides any performance boost, it is going to be slight, and you'll become accustomed to it after a week or so and forget you ever gained any performance =)

I don't know exactly what gas weighs...water is about 7 pounds per gal...A4 holds 16 Gals (Non-Q) so you do the math if gas is 6.5 pounds per gal then you could get the same gain by keeping 6~7 less gallons of fuel in the tank all the time...that leaves 10 for driving...a much better idea than the tire thing.

it might mean getting shorter life out of your cars engine if you put a chip in, but hey you pay a price for performance upgrading, loseing the spare tire and ten gallans of gas (gas approx. 8 pounds per gallon, and you shaved 1/10 off of you quater mile time.

No picking on anyone, you all know what you should weigh... Removing the spare is pretty lame I think.
