the last engine i took the intake off was a junker sitting in a wheel barrel. i didn't really care about that engine, but i do care about mine
does anyone know of a secret to getting the intack manifold off? the mounts and cylinder head surfaces are slanted in from both sides. that does not allow any kind prying up to tilt the manifold. this manifold has never been off since audi put it together 195,000 miles ago.
anyone whose btdt help appreciated.
don't even ask why i'm taking the intake off.

After you've disconected the fuel line , egr, some vac and breether lines, there are 4 or 5 long bolts that hold it toghether to the head. Take those off wiggle it a little and it pulls straight up. You don't even need to remove the Throtle body, injectors or fuel rail.Once you have the Egr and the bolts off you should be able to at least jiggle it.

just a little persuasion and the manifold gasket came unstuct.
on the screw, i tried magnet down spark hole: no help. nothing came out.
with intake off, i can see back of valve. engine ran after it got screwed and i could hear rat-tat for 3 minutes to drive home. i figured the first rat tat either did the damage or it didn't and as long as it ran, i drove home (slowly)
with plugs out, engine spum with starter to allow compression check. now, turning by hand, it appears to stop at the valve. i can feel something hitting the valve with my finger in the port when i turn it slow. can't see anything down around back of valve. going to get small dental mirror to have a better look befor pulling head.
valve is either being held open by screw or it is bent and not not closing. last effort before pulling head is to take valve cover off and pry or push down spring with wood and see if screw is loose to pull out with magnet.

for the injector feed pipe. Once all 10 bolts are removed and the miscellaneous parts on the backside are disconnected, the manifold should lift right off.
