Well, I got the heater box out of the '97 A6 wagon and it took some work! Wow, I see why it's a 12-14 hour service job.

When I took it out though, I snapped the circular yellow flap that in in the AC section the box attaches to. (via the large rubber section)

What does this do or what is this thing called? I can't find it in Bentley anywhere under AC or heater parts.

There's an electric motor on the top of it, no vacuum. It would not turn to the shut position, and even when I turned the car one and tried several climate settings I could not get it to close, so it snapped when I pulled the box off.
I wonder if this is correct? (not closing, I know I wasn't supposed to break it :)

Thanks for insight!

Thanks Gary, I looked there but it's not shown anywhere(another reason for not liking the Bentley CD)

It's the yellow door that goes between the AC system and heater system.

I used Goop on it last night and some silicone. I may try some epoxy too, but with the fan right there it would seem the that the door would be under a lot of air pressure and being moved alot as the system mixes. I'd hate for it to break off and need to be pulled again.
