does anyone think/know that if audi will A6ize the rear of the A4 during the upcoming face-lift?
One post mentinoed that they are changing the rear lid and tail-lights-- i hope they don't make it as ugly as the A6. The a4 would go from having the cutest butt in town to the worst one.
It amazes me that Audi would do this (if this is what they are planning) since no one seems to like the A6 butt (no reviewer, no one on this forum, no one I know). What are they thinking? If anything they should a4-tify the other models. Is there any truth to this? Audi, if you're listening, don't do this!! No one like the rear of the A6 except the person who created it (maybe).
Does anyone out there like the A6 look?

Well ! I own an A6. The kids didn't fit in the back of the A4. I agree- the A4 has the best butt in town, but if you debadge the A6 rear it helps. The lights are quite a bit like the TT's so we may have to get used to it.

My mom does. It is her favourite, she also loves the Jaguar rears. That's actually how this A4 thing started for me.
I used to be into cars when I was about 13-14 and living in Italy, but with age my interest totally waned. This June, 10 years later, we were coming home from Costco in my up-until-then more than adequate Dodge Shadow, and she noticed the car in front of us (she never does that!).. Wow what a beautiful and totally striking rear.. turns out to be an Audi.. an A6. I had never noticed the new generation of Audis, I associated the make with the 80, 90, 100, and 200's of the late 80's/early 90's. That made me look at cars again and eventually I spotted the A4 and decided to screw buying a used but dependable '91 Accord, a new Audi is what I need to have., and the A4 is only about $35000 CDN more than the above-mentioned Accord. I figured, I'm 23 with a great job, little expenses, this is maybe the last time I will be able to afford to blow all my money on a lousy investment. And I'm loving it.
But to come back to the A6's tail, I agree that from a couple of angles it looks questionable, however that will grow on you with time if you want it to. Granted, the A4 looks outstanding from any angle, effortlesslyt. The fact that the A6 disturbs a little will make it, I think, increase its longevity while aging more gracefully than the A4. From most angles the car is absolutely stunning, a tour-de-force in a 4-door design.. It just oozes with style and elegance, in my opinion more so than any other sedan on the market. It's become the most desirable car for me, despite the fact that it is so underpowered. I think R&T put it great when they said about the A6 "perhaps the mosr amazing thing is how the Audi overcame its performance shortcomings on the considerable strengths of its inspirational styling, fit/finish and an extraordinary interior that would do justice to a car costing twice as much". Luckily, in 4 years time when I think I will want to part ways with my A4, the powerplants will no longer be the A6's Achille's Heel. I'm hoping I'll still be employed and unmarried, and that will be my last excess ever. Unless Audi..
Hello all,
in the pile of car magazines I brought from Germany last week there is a picture of the new A4 (1999.5, or officially as they call it "2000").
I will scan the image & post it as soon as I get to it; for now, let me describe it. The image shows an A4 from a "side-front" angle. Clearly a new (A6) front, projector headlights; new door handles; bigger back & shorter trunk; new tail lights that are closer to the A4's than the A6's (we have both). They don't go "all around the corner", even less than today's A4's. The rear bumper seems more massive than today. The trunk lid has an integrated spoiler, such as today.
Again, one can see only the edge of th

I have troubles uploading, DSL line is broken...
Later,
- Stan
