I just test drove a 93 100S. It was in pretty good shape but I was expecting it to have more power. It was kind of sluggish accelerating getting on the freeway. Is this normal for this car? It's the first time I've driven one. I'm attaching the link to the ad, if that helps. Any thoughts/opinions?

service (timing belt, idler, tensioner, water pump, thermostat) was perfomed.

How can you be sure if the above as you mentioned had been performed (we're not mechanics or familiar with Audis)? the guy said he was sure it had been done around 100,000 but had no records. What is the best way to have a car inspected for these things before purchase?

as for the lack of power
I felt the same thing when I purchased my 100cs..
I found that I was not used to pushing the pedal to the floor to get it to go my passat would haul at the half way point but the audi, well floor it and see.. even my A6 is the same way and its three years newer

or if I can't tell if it's been changed, about how much would that run? I'm also not sure how to find a good mechanic. I trust unknown mechanics about as much as I trust this sales guy. The car is in San Rafael, if anyone could recommend a place to have it checked.
