except that "It seems that the A4 is a popular model and they are having difficulty keeping up with the demand." Is this common or a load of crap. I am working through CarOrder.com and they just informed me of this delay today. Any other suspicions about what is going on here? I was told on 10/5 that the car was at status B and would be here 8-10 wks. Now it's January 4th!

I had an S4 on order from my local dealer. When I ordered the car at the beginning of July, I was told late Sept or early Oct. In mid Sept, they told me "later this month." In early Oct, they referred to a printout dated Sept 20, which indicated that the car was at the dock in Germany.
The car still isn't in. A few days ago, I was told "by the end of the month." When I asked them to explain how the car had gone from the US back to Germany (not that I believe that story), all I got was a shrug of the shoulder. The dealer refused to tell me the current order status code.
At recommendation of AoA, I went to another dealer. They had exactly what I wanted en route, and in fact I took delivery of that car two days ago.

I am having the same problem. I was originally told I had a Nov build date which would result in a Dec delivery. Now suddenly, I am looking at mid-Jan. I'm also going through carorder. I told them I wanted to see a copy of the dealer order sheet - to make sure the car was ordered when it was supposed to have been. Well, it's a week later and I still don't have anything. My suspicion is that someone didn't place the order in a timely fashion. Problem is I don't know if it was carorder or the dealer. I'll keep you posted. FWIW - I spoke to a dealer and he said that he is getting Jan. deliveries for cars that were ordered only a week or two ago, much less a month or two ago. I'll keep you posted.
