As soon as I get my baby (its on its way finally), I plan on tinting the windows. I have been looking for a site that reviews and compares the different tint manufacturers against each other and themselves. I do not know a bunch about tint and I want to make an informed decision rather than just walk into the local tint shop. I want to be able to intelligently discuss fading, metallic vs. semi-metallic, etc. with them. If anyone has any suggestions, they would be appreciated.

I have had 3M on my car for 5 years now without a scratch or bubble and i live in a very hot and humid climate. Therefore i would recommend 3M. However when tinting a car i feel its only 40% film and 60% skill of installer. If the person doing it is crap, no matter what film you use its gonna look like ass. If not right away, it will peel and bubble. Therefore ask people around you that have tinted cars where they got theirs done... I may (asking for flames here) have my dealer do it when i pick it up and pay the extra money to have it be a dealer problem when and if it begins to get crap looking.
Oh btw...3M has a lifetime warrenty.... one last plug...
Good Luck.

Of course, the dealer will actually subcontract the task to a tint shop, but hopefully the dealer will make the tinter make good on any problems.

Last car I bought (Nissan), I had the dealer install (subcontract) for leather seats and window tinting. When minor problems developed with the seats, the dealer had it taken care of pronto. I'd still be fighting with the seat guys.

Biggest problem with aftermarket window tinting...ammonia based cleaners damage it. You have to watch out for the guys at car washes with the bottles of whatever cleaner.
