View Full Version : Hey Sebastian how's the clutch job coming along? VIPSA 02-19-2004, 08:05 AM greenaudi100 02-19-2004, 10:40 AM Ok, so here is where we are now, we took off my entire exaust system, took out the rear drive shaft and everything in between there. Our next step is to remove the inner cv joints, but we couldnt do this because we didnt have the 12 point tool. Luckily, my uncle got one from a store up by him, but we both have several questions. The first is about the slave cylinder. We cant seem to find this and we spend about thirty minutes looking for it. Can anyone tell us where this is and how it moves the pressure plate? My uncle is confused because if its hydraulic there is no linkage and everything must be done by fluid. Is there a line that must be disconnected or is there enough slack in the line to just remove the slave cylinder? Also, does anybody know how many or which wires or sensors need to be disconnected? That was our other concern. We are going to work on it again this saturday, hopefully make some good progress, although I dont think we will finish saturday. Can anyone think of anything else we may run into that could confuse us? Those were the two main things that got to my uncle. The computer at his house didnt support the mitchell on demand cd I purchased and for some reason I dont think you can print stuff out from there, on my computer it loaded but I couldnt print anything. Hopefully, there will be some helpful stuff on there, I took a look at it but cant remember if there was anything that great on there besides the common sense stuff. By the way, thanks alot for asking, I wasnt expecting anyone to do that! Any help is apprecited, thanks again! Number 19 in the upper left hand corner is your clutch slave cylynder. Number 6 is your clutch master cylynder. Number 22 is your feeding line. It seems to be a solid fitted hose so I doubt there is much "room" to move it. If the hose were rubber I would say there might be room, I am not positive on this assumption though so you may want to check it out. The second picture will also show you the location of the slave cylynder. http://www.rit.edu/~ixb4018/100cspictures/clutch2.jpg Also my piece of advice would be to make sure you torque down the clutch bolts to the specification outlined. This is essential. For the flywheel 40 Nm (30 ft lb) plus additional 1/2 -turn (180) For the clutch pressure plate 18ft lb Hope that helps. I have a good source here *wink* for more specs if you need them. greenaudi100 02-19-2004, 05:23 PM icos6 02-19-2004, 05:52 PM it is easier to remove it together with the line that suplies pressure. It is held with one bolt and it just puls out of the trans.Don,t disconect line and you wil not have to bleed the system. As for wires there are only couple of them there. You have speed sensor wire, reverse switch wire and not sure of model you might have engine speed sensor on trans. Edd W 02-20-2004, 04:27 AM of the bell housing. There is one 13mm bolt holding it in place. Once the bolt is out you can then lever it out of the socket on the housing that it sits in. You will NOT need to undo the hydraulic line but there may be a clamp or bracket of some kind that you have to undo as well to allow it to move away from the box. Tie the cylinder up out of the way - you can tie onto the track control arm. The cables that need to be disconnected are one plug for the speedo and one for the reversing lights. These are obvious if you look around ahere the slave cylinder is. If your car has procon ten then you will also have to watch out for the stailess steel cables that go around a casting on top of the box - you will see them. Do not disconnect them from the car, just push them up out of the way as you remove the box. When the box is out, take a good look at the way the slave cylinder is located. It is very easy to remove but can be tricky to put back and easy to cross-thread the bolt or over-tighten it. Being familiar with this will help. When putting the box back in, make sure the procon ten cables re-locate correctly - these could save someones life! greenaudi100 02-20-2004, 07:39 AM IanB 02-21-2004, 09:28 AM wondering how today went, since it is 1:30 and about the time you will see the light at the end of the tunnel or not. -Ian |
