Have 99.5 A$ 1.8tQ with just over 3,000 miles on it. I started the car about an hour ago for a jaunt when it barely started. No problem with starter, it was real rough idle that was making the car lurch side to side. I let it idle, but it didn't get much better. I decided to go anyway and when hitting the gas there was a lot of smoke. On the highway I downshifted and stepped on the gas and a bunck more came out. Any ideas? Car is too new for this.

Whatever the cause of the smoke, if the car is miss firing, DO NOT DRIVE IT! You will damage your cat converters at a minimum.

Either you have lost spark on part of the engine, or you have some sort of leak into a cylinder.

Get it looked at ASAP!
