It took me a year and-a-half to talk dad into buying an A6. He finally drove one and was hooked. Shortly after I got my A4. Before getting mine and about two weeks after he got his I found out Audi was putting the 4.2 in the A6 for sure and they were coming to the States.
Mentioned this to Pop and explained what this meant performance wise for the car. He gave several manly grunts and the next day contacted the dealer and put money down.
Just got a call from him, seems his car is at the dealership and being prepped for pick-up tomorrow. I can't wait. I know this is the A4 forum but figured you folks would understand my enthusiasm at the chance to put the new member of our growing Audi clan to the test.
If interested I'll post my driving impressions
for your viewing and maybe a photo if I figure out how.
Please understand, I'm not gloating, I'm just
a weee bit excited. Pretty sad/funny since it's not even MY car.

I am very curious as to your driving impressions in the A6 4.2

I surprised him one day by showing up with the Audi A4 that I had been driving for 3 months (I guess I don't visit as much as I should).

I took him for an agressive spin through the back roads and described all the great features, etc.

My father made the usual comments about fiscal responsibility and careful driving, etc. - but as he got out of my car I could see the longing and admiration in his eyes.

Wouldn't you know it - this Thanksgiving he announces that he is going to have to trade his GMC Jimmy in for an A6 Avant. I just grinned. He doesn't usually back down from grand plans like that - so I suspect I will see one in the driveway before springtime. His last two vehicles hve been 4X4 Jimmy's - but his three previous vehicles and been Volvo stationwagons - I guess he is kind of returning to his roots but keeping the AWD part.

my dad's last two vehicles were also sport utes, Jeep Grands to be specific. Before that it was a Cadillac. He's come along way and is very happy.
BTW, seems the car won't be ready until Friday but he stopped by and took a peek. He was giddy enough to actually call me from the dealership
to tell me how great it looked even with all the
shipping wrap still on.
