Well I had the retrofit done. But only one tether was installed. The frame had only one mount point even though the carpet had cut outs for three. it fits in the middle, so I do feel better about putting a seat the the middle position where there is only a lap belt.

Hmm, the dealer put three tethers in mine.

I have a wagon as well. I rigged up something using climbing equipment and the rear seat seatbelt mounting point for the outer seat.

Just for kicks I stopped at a car seat inspection program to have them double check my installation (a good idea even if you know you've done it right). My seats were installed perfectly, though the inspector wasn't big on my home-made tether setup (not OEM and not directly in-line with the seat). The seat was fine w/o it, but I'm going to run it at least until I come up with something better. I figure it's backup anyway. The inspector was going to check her "book" and see if it had any hints and get back to me.

Next time I'm under the car I'll evaluate putting a bolt/backing plate through where the outer tether positions _should_ be and use that.

BTW, the equipment for the wagon (which I bought last year before this program) runs about $50.
