I have a 1994 Audi 100S.Today I took it to have alignment done on front wheels, went home, felt OK,but then I turned left and something went wrong.Works fine, but when starting acceleration it loudly squeaks somewhere in right axle area, transforming to frequent knocks with further acceleration.Seems loudest and vibrating when released gas pedal and almost disappears when turning left.Still had to drive to work and back home.Could alignment people screw up or any ideas? Thnx for any ideas!!! :-(

I would have all four axle shafts looked at, you may have one ofr more of the mounts loosened up. I hardly doubt the alignment shop would have had to touch these, seems more of a co-incedance then anything else. Then who knows for sure? Let us know what you find....

Surely You are right. What happened is the axle needs replacement.I got the car at 111K,now its 118 and I'm figuring out that it was neglected badly.(I changed timing belt at 112K,it was never done before).Tech said the grease just dried and axle went bad.So I'm looking at 800$,which is 450 for axle, labor etc.I'm going to have all CV Joints etc greased.Any suggestions on what should be done after when getting the gar after neglecting owners(tranny fluid, brake fluid....?)

Watch for tranny fluid in the rad coolant tank.
tranny fluid
brake fluid
rad flush/fluid

You can buy axles for $79 at any local Auto parts store. Then have a good mom and pop shop install them for about $60 a side. I just picked up A 91 100 that has about the same deal. Very nice car just the last owner didn't take care of anything.

Thanx a lot for advice, man. That's what I'm going to do(already bought remanufactured axle,I'm even gonna look to see if it is possible to do myself with help of friend who told me about this sweet alternative). Those dealers are chop shops. They still charged me for air shipping of the part(it was already shipped from Chikago by the time I backed off).Any advice more than welcome!!!

So I decided to go cheaperand get one of them remanufactured axles for 85$+core charge.Actually it's a pretty hard stuff to get in Twin Cities,Minnesota, both dealers don't have them in stock and they say it's a special order-2-3 days.I thought I was lucky to find a remanuf. at NAPA in St. Louis Park.Alas, all my attempts to install it were in vain-it was just too big!!!I measured it and it appeared to be 23.4 inches long uncompressed. The original is 22.7.So I ended up returning it and buying a used one for 150$.Holy moly I'm tired of rental Lancer :-(((
