Beginning to look for a new/used A6 replacement for my 94'-100S. Any of you folks made the switch into the similar body style 95-97 A6? Any comments or experiences you care to share would be appreciated. Seems my 94 with 115K is beginning to become a maintenance $$$ black hole.

Thanks, Tom

Maintenance is still cheaper than a car payment. I have only 162K on my 92 100 and still runs great.

FYI, no 5sp for those years also if your looking for one.

However, they are quite rare, and I kind of fell upon it. Mine is a 95

Great car...

OBD-II has something to do with it, having the 4 O2 sensors... at 98k, the idle on my A6 is still amazingly smooth. Remember that OBD-II came in '96.

Otherwise, the changes were pretty much just cosmetic... transmission got some minor tweaks and I can't imagine the engine went unchanged either, in the three years between my cars' manufacture.

I get the feeling that my A6 will go to 150k without the feeling that it's getting old... while the 100CS at 110k, is starting to feel old. Trim pieces are starting to loosen up, the gas pedal broke off, have had some battery cable problems, power steering hose, rough idle that can't be fixed just because, etc. Nothing too bad on the wallet but still, just the feeling that she's getting tired of driving. =(

Any specific questions?

No specific questions. Mostly interested in what others have experienced. My other thought is to make the leap and look for a '98 or newer model. A few more $$ but eh why do I work so hard to make it if I can't have a little fun spending it! Folks I've spoken with including my Indy all rave about the newest body style A6. We'll see.

Thanks, Tom

Mine's called Byzantine Blue, but I keep getting busted for driving a 'purple car'.

"It's BLUE!"
