Does anyone use their 100 for towing? Mine is a 92 5spd non-q with 158k miles on it, I might be getting an old 16' ski boat that weighs around 1000 pounds. The audi can handle it, but for how long? Is a new clutch expensive?

The brakes on our cars are not that great, make sure the trailer has brakes.
Sorry, I can not add any addition info.

Have towed with all of my Audi's over the years 1-4000 & 3-100's. Trailering Hobie catamarans and JetSki's. Weight full up has been around 350-450 lbs plus trailer weight. Have never had a problem but can feel the pull if the load is not balanced well or high side winds or uphill. Audi's are definately not high end towing machines but will do OK with lighter loads.

I have a 94 100s and started towing a small outboard this summer...combined weight of boat, motor, trailer is about 1700 lbs.
I put the hitch on myself www.hitchweb.com. very easy. Paid someone to do the electrical. I also added brakes to the trailer. (a pain, but necessary)
Tows w/o a problem (knock on wood!)
It's actually quite relaxing to cruise down the highway at 55 mph. I don't feel rushed and I let all the speed demons race each other.
