Hmm..I had the radio last night to get room to install the boost gauge. I figured I will have to look up the code to un-lock the radio, right? Wrong... I powered up the radio... all my presets were still there! I had disconnected all the wires, tossed the radio in the back... twice, no less!
What do you guys think?
Cris
Hmm... I've never heard of this. From what I've told and through experience in my mom's VW Passat,... is that if you disconnect the battery, you will need to punch in the code. I guess disconnecting the radio, but not the battery doesn't set off the lock.
Cris

My '98 2.8QMS was built in March. I never activated any lock or anything. Just unplugging the unit did it. How long was yours unplugged? There may be a small time delay in which the internal memory still has enough charge on the capacitors. Maybe it takes more than 1/2 hour or something to reset.

So I am really curious too what the heck it did not lock up for.
I must lock up when it does not have power, so disconnecting batery should do it.
Let us know what the dealer says.
