My car has been in the shop for just over a month now waiting for parts after 2 accidents....
I finally got the body kit in also....but-how can I explain to the bodyshop that the silver isn't aluminum silver as it says on the spare tire but light silver(part om2 y7w-Licht Silber?). I obviously don't want them to paint the new body panels with the old color....any suggestions?
Thanks
Alex

I would send them a fax and letter politely explaining what you just said. Bodyshops are good businesses, as I personally know a bodyshop owner, but there is always alot going on, and this could easily get confused. A couple written reminders would minimize the chance of a mistake.

It's definitely different, I think it changed for the 98+ models.
I just picked up a little bottle of the touch up stuff- it was the number you mentioned.
It said "lake silver" AND "light silver" on the invoice, and yet's it's correct for the 99.5.
Don't let them use "aluminum silver"- it's got too much blue hue in it...

Be polite, they just may not know about the slight color difference. A reputable shop will confirm the color code against the car no matter what you say...
