Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. If its squeeking and I hit the brakes, it stops sqeeking as soon an the front of the car dips down. Why is this thing making this noise. Its very annoying, so I usually turn up the radio.

You mention that the noise is intermittent. You can also stop it by hitting the brakes. One possibility is that there is some sort of dirt or debris that worked its way in between the moving parts. As you drive the debris moves around inside the blower and sometimes it's rubbing and sometimes it's not.

I've never tried it on an Audi but it did work on a Ford Bronco several years ago. Run the blower and give a few short squirts of silicon spray lubricant into the air intakes. Silicon is relatively odorless and as it works it's way through the vent system it will lube anything and everything it comes into contact with.

If some blows all the way through and ends up inside the car it's no big deal. It'll wipe right up and gloss up the surface just like Armour-All.

Fan on high to make sure it sucks in all the silicone spray.

Ahh, brings back fond memories of shredded leaves blowing through the center vents of my 4000.

My fan will intermittently "race". Cruising along at a lower fan setting, then occasionally it will speed up to max setting for about 3 seconds.

It doesn't bother me too much, I figured it was my bass shaking the dash board causing the controls to think buttons were being pushed, maybe its not my bass though because it does it when the radio is off.

some people have tried greasing it but with limited results (ie works for 6 months then dies) and its a pain to open up to grease so i recommend just replacing it...
